Eurozone inflation down to 2.7% in December

Annual inflation in the eurozone went down to 2.7 percent in December, the European Union's (EU) statistical office Eurostat reported on Wednesday.

Monthly inflation was 0.3 percent in December.

As for 27-nation EU, annual inflation rate was 3.0 percent in December 2011, December's monthly inflation rate was 0.3 percent.

The lowest annual rates in December were observed in Sweden, Malta and Bulgaria, and the highest in Slovakia, Poland and Cyprus.

As for eurozone, main components with the highest annual rates in December 2011 were housing, transport and alcohol & tobacco, while the lowest annual rates were observed for communications, recreation and culture and education.
