Tokyo stocks closed higher Wednesday with the key Nikkei index up 0.08 percent.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 7.28 points from Tuesday at 8,809.79.
The broader Topix index expanded 2.69 points, or 0.36 percent, to finish at 757.96, putting an end to a four-day losing streak.
The leading winners included the air transport, sea transport and consumer finance sectors. The electricity and gas, electric machinery and land transport sectors were among the decliners.
The turnover was about 1,155 billion yen (about 15.15 billion U. S. dollars). |
