Nikkei closes 1.28% higher on weaker yen
Nikkei closed 1.28 percent higher Thursday, putting an end to a three-day losing streak as the yen weakened the day.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average advanced 133.88 points, or 1. 28 percent, from Wednesday to 10,620.87.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 9.83 points, or 1.11 percent, at 897. 62.
Gainers were led by the securities, iron and steel and insurance sectors, while electric power and gas, and pulp and paper issues were the only decliners.
The turnover was about 1,820.9 billion yen (about 20.41 billion U.S. dollars).
