Nikkei ends 0.94 pct lower

Nikkei closed 0.94 percent lower on Monday after it topped the 11,000 threshold, the highest level since April 2010.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 102.34 points, or 0.94 percent, from Friday to 10,824.31.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 3.31 points, or 0.36 percent, to 913. 78.

Decliners included sea transport, glass makers and nonferrous metals, while gainers were led by mining, consumer finance and securities issues.

The turnover was about 1,930.0 billion yen (about 21.20 billion U.S. dollars).
