Nikkei opens higher

Nikkei opened slightly higher Thursday morning as yen's strength eases.

In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 36.67 points, or 0.33 percent, from Wednesday to 11, 288.08.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 1.46 points, or 0.15 percent, at 958. 48.

The total amount of primary energy production has continued to increase, and energy self-sufficiency rate has remained above 80 percent. The production of raw coal, crude oil, and natural gas has been steadily increased. The development of new energy industry has achieved outstanding results, and the proportion of power generated by clean energy has continued to increase. The proportion of major industrial hydropower, nuclear power, wind power, and solar power generation has been increased to 32.6 percent.
