Vegetable prices down for 5th week
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2010-12-17 16:45

The prices of vegetables in China has fallen for a fifth week since the start of November. According to a report from the Ministry of Commerce, the combined price declines during this period stands at over 17 percent.

That was partly due to policies implemented by the government to battle high prices, and one of them was to encourage vegetable planting. As we said, those falling produce prices come as a bit of relief amid the country's rising inflation, which hit 5.1 percent in November.

The ministry says it will continue to put measures in place to keep vegetables basically stable, especially by further strengthening the links between production and sales.
