Social activities: getting youth involved
by Mariam Raheem
Youth being the most valuable asset of a society needs more attention to develop human resources, creating able leaders to take over the plans from their predecessors. Youth has rights to education and skill development for playing their role as a local leader and representing their nation at a global level. It's obligatory to the seniors of society to plan, design and implement them to achieve goals for the future leaders, the youth.
Social activities are the most common tool to engage human beings to help others. Youth is easily attracted and converged to the activities at all levels. At an early age, teenagers love to deal with plantation, sports, debating, singing and art competitions when at school. From teenage to young adult age, social training gets mature to serve humanity addressing social needs by networking, writing, motivating and resource mobilization to achieve larger goals.
The above views were expressed by Mr. Aftab Ahmed Jadraan, Ambassador for Leo Club Program ISAAME area 2018-20. Leo clubs are a youth organization of Lions Clubs International, which encourage youths to develop leadership qualities by participating in social service activities.
Mr. Aftab Ahmed Jadraan explained that youth education can be divided into two major segments, which are formal academic and informal extra curriculum. former one helps choose a path to contribute as a professional and institutions at all levels are available to do this important job. “In Pakistan we do not have sufficient opportunities for youth. And as far as institutions are concerned, a large population doesn't have access to formal education in rural areas.” he further said that, “informal education is the responsibility of society not the state particularly and amongst other few organizations lions’ Clubs International is on top of the globe to provide an opportunity to youth of the world.”
It is noted that the 24th Annual District Convention Lahore 2021 will be held on 11 April and 29 May. According to Mr. Aftab Ahmed Jadraan, this Convention was designed with an aim of developing a new tier of lions along with the older lions. The youth cannot be ignored, but their contribution to social media activities has given new life to the event, which is unprecedented.
Referring to the progress made by Leo Clubs in Pakistan, Aftab Ahmed Jadraan stated that, “being part of the global community, our struggle brought delight results. One of our Leo Club, running under my advisership, named Kasur Royal United Leo Club 305-N1 Pakistan, is recognized for many awards at local, national and international levels.” He also mentioned that another newly chartered Club, with more than 400 members and whose members are engaged in media campaign of 24th Annual District Convention Lahore 2021.
