China's inbound tourism hit a new high last year after a decade-long downturn, according to a World Tourism Alliance and Kulv Data Marketing report published in Beijing on Thursday.

Last year, the nation received 141.2 million visits from overseas travelers , up 1.2 percent year-on-year, the report said.

Revenue from these visits reached $127.1 billion in 2018, a rise of three percent compared with 2017.

According to the report, peak times fall in March, April, October and December thanks to pleasant temperatures and long Christmas holidays abroad.

February meanwhile is considered the off season due to services closing during Spring Festival holiday.

The report said that scenic spots highlighting Chinese history and culture are most attractive to overseas travelers.

The five hottest attractions are the Palace Museum, Tian'anmen Square and Summer Palace in Beijing, the Bund in Shanghai, and Emperor Qinshihuang's Mausoleum Site Museum in Xi'an, Shaanxi province.
