HK's property sales up 6.2 pct in 2012

The number of sale and purchase agreements for all Hong Kong building units for 2012 was 115,533, up 6.2 percent over a year earlier, but down 29 percent on 2010, the city's Land Registry announced Friday.

According to the released figure, the total consideration for these agreements was 653.96 billion HK dollars (about 84.37 billion U.S. dollars), up 11.2 percent year-on-year but down 5.2 percent on 2010.

The number of assignments of building units last year was 118,184, down 20.8 percent, year-on-year, and down 36.8 percent on 2010.

There were 5.11 million land-register searches made by the public, down 0.8 percent on 2011, and down 14.9 percent on 2010.
