A Beijing-based real estate research body -"China Index Academy" has done a research study about changes in China's new home prices. Here's what they've found: In June, average new home prices amongst 100 major in China posted an increase of around 8-tenths of a percent versus May. That means one square meter now costs, on average, over 10 thousand yuan.

New home prices in Beijing jumped 1.6 percent from the previous month, almost twice as much as the average increase. In Shanghai prices ticked up 0.6 percent month on month. A separate report from the China Index Academy argues that in Beijing, housing curbs from the government earlier this year, have only been effective on slashing housing turnover, instead of dampening prices. To resolve this, the report suggests several options, including increasing land supplies or on the flip side, restricting land acquisition as well as offering more government-subsidized, affordable homes.
