Video and voice communication, food tracing network..., the latest achievements in areas like "broadband China", industrial application on the integration of informationization and industrialization, fusion of "three networks", mobile internet, mobile smart terminal, network security and internet management, cloud computing, and green communication were brought together in the PT/EXPO COMM CHINA 2012 held recently, which attracted nearly 500 organizations from 16 countries and regions. With the total exhibition area exceeding 45,000 m2, it was the largest exposition in international information and communication in Asia and even the world in the year.

Information and communication industry, as a strategic emerging industry of the country, plays a more and more important role in advancing economic development and social progress, enhancing public service level and strengthening the national comprehensive competitiveness. According to the statistics, up to the end of this July, China had set up the largest information and communication network with total amount of phone subscribers up to 1.35 billion including 1.06 billion mobile phone subscribers, 184 million 3G phone subscribers, and the amount of netizens up to 541 million.

"The innovative development of information and communication technologies and constant emergence of new technologies and business, especially deep integration with production organization and manufacturing process in the traditional industries, are advancing the new industrial reform with the core of digitalization, network orientation, intelligentization and service orientation, and helping the real economy to enter a new development phase," said by Shang Bing, vice minister of industry and information technology.

Opening new 4G times

Different from the expo in 2011, several TD-LTE terminal products are showed for the first time in China. TD-LTE, as the next generation of wireless communication technology, is the core inheritance and technological innovation of TD-SCDMA standard. The TD-LTE independently developed by China has formed gradually a complete industrial chain. The 4G license will be issued a year later.

During the EXPO 2012, China Mobile demonstrated TD-LTE transmitting-while-shooting TV communication technologies and products. TD-LTE network linked the outdoor demonstration vehicle with the indoor live room and displayed applications like mobile high-definition video monitoring and mobile high-definition video conference; TD-SCDMA Industry Alliance comprehensively demonstrated the industrialization progress and achievements in TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE, including smart terminal chip, first LTE multimode chip and solution with ZUC in the industry; Huawei displayed for the first time a wireless WAN card terminal which can be commercialized formally with the theoretical downloading speed up to 150M/s, much higher than the speed of the fixed broadband; ZTE also demonstrated several 4G wireless WAN card terminals.

Moreover, Ericsson revealed commercial TD-LTE/LTE FDD fusion platform, multi-standard RBS6000 base station series system and solution. The system offers public substructure for multiple technical standards including GSM, WCDMA and CDMA evolving into LTE. Based on the platform, Ericsson demonstrated to audience business like Vgo robot, IMS-based video and voice communication, and mutual operation between TD-LTE and LTE FDD. Chang Gang, Chief Marketing Officer of Ericsson China, said that Ericsson occupied 60 percent of market share in the global LTE layout.

Serving people with intelligence

Serving people with intelligence has become the common sense of the operators. The concept interpretation and application demonstration of intelligent city still became the common focus of three operators including China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom during this expo.

"Wireless city" exhibition area of China Mobile demonstrated to audience the people-benefited applications like mobile medic and intelligent classroom, as well as several success cases like food tracing and noise monitoring. Audience on the site experienced a brand new life brought by mobile informationization.

China Telecom, through a holographic projection sand table of "E-surfing Intelligent Community", demonstrated to audience the new technologies based on cloud computing, internet of things and mobile internet and created a new information life in an intelligent community. Furthermore, "Intelligent Community" also displayed collectively intelligent applications like intelligent education, intelligently helping the aged, intelligent medic, emergency group call and video call.

The demonstration model of intelligent city of China Unicom, as the first operator to come up with the strategy of "intelligent city", displays the future mobile life. The industrial applications like interactive marketing, intelligent school, WO Chat, Job Assistant, WO Traffic offer intelligent support to people’s life and work.

Obviously, people's well-being has become an important bright light for the construction of intelligent city. Wireless portal of China Mobile covers 10 areas like public service, traffic and education, which are closely related to people's well-being; the intelligent life of China Telecom does not offer remote medic, but also give information of food price in the markets nearby; gas meter which can control the valve automatically by means of SM service by China Unicom is much favored by people.

People's well-being is also the source of power for the development of the whole information and communication industry. Just as said by Shang Bing, vice minister of industry and information technology, it will speed up the pace of fusion and innovation in the information and communication industry for the next step, vigorously promote deep fusion of informationization and industrialization, advance interaction of all sections in the industrial chain, satisfy the increasing information consumption requirement of people and exert the basic, guiding and strategic functions of the information and communication industry in the national economy in a better way.
