Pakistan army chief reiterates resolve to protect CPEC

RAWALPINDI, September 1: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday afternoon reiterated the resolve to thwart designs of spoilers of CPEC.
In a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong, here at the general Headquarters (GHQ), General Bajwa expressed the determination towards CPEC.
“During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, developing Afghanistan situation and regional security were discussed in detail,” said a military statement issued here by the Inter-Services Public relations (ISPR).
It added: “The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s sincere efforts to bring peace and stability in the region, especially in light of the recent developments in Afghanistan and reiterated that China would continue to support Pakistan as a strategic partner.”
