The United States remains the top leader in arms sales worldwide. Global transfers of major arms saw a slight drop of 4.6 percent between 2012-16 and 2017-21, but the US increased its exports 14 percent, moving its global share from 32 to 39 percent, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute. Notably, the US is offering USD 350 million worth of "lethal defensive" weapons to Ukraine.
