More Chinese companies looking for JV partners in Pakistan: APCEA

KARACHI, Aug 11 (Gwadar Pro) - During a meeting with the delegation of the Board of Investment (BOI) on Wednesday, Chinese companies under the umbrella of the All-Pakistan Chinese Enterprises’ Association (APCEA) reaffirmed their commitment to investing in Pakistan. APCEA apprised the BOI’s delegation that several other Chinese enterprises were interested in finding JV partners in Pakistan.
 
To promote B2B cooperation in the private sector between China and Pakistan, the BOI team led by Additional Secretary Khashih ur Rehman and Project Director, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Industrial Cooperation Development Project (CPEC-ICDP) Asim Ayub called on APCEA in Karachi.
 
APCEA and heads of Chinese enterprises including the Bank of China, ICBC, Shanghai Electric Thar Coal Block-I, China Harbor, and Hailong Petroleum among others put forward their requirements for B2B cooperation and issues faced by Chinese enterprises working in Karachi, according to an official statement, adding that some of the issues were already resolved from the platform of BOI’s Project Management on CPEC-ICDP. “The issues discussed during the meeting included taxes, remittances, imports of raw material and equipment, visas, and RMB settlements,” as per the statement.
 
Additional Secretary Khashih Rehman assured the Chinese officials of BOI’s full support for advocating the concerns of the Chinese investors on appropriate forums.
 
Both sides appreciated the website of the Pak China Business & Investment Forum’s (PCBIF), which is in the final stage of development. The forum has been created by BOI and APCEA under the support of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan.  
 
Asim Ayub informed the Chinese companies of BOI’s meeting with different chambers of commerce and industry and he added, “Interactions between China and Pakistani business community, under BOI’s support may reap fruitful results for B2B cooperation”.
 
BOI agreed to work with APCEA to help and facilitate new Chinese companies in finding JV partners in Pakistan.
