1. Blazing the trail for China's path to modernization

 

At the recent symposium on promoting the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, it was made clear that the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region should undertake the major task of " making the region a pioneer and example in pursuing Chinese modernization". Major regional development strategies such as the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region meet the needs of high-quality development in the new era. On the new journey, we should firmly adopt an overarching approach to development, and promote Chinese modernization with high-level regional coordinated development.

 

2. Strive for innovation in catching up and surpassing

 

Scientific and technological innovation is the only way to enhance a country's core competitiveness. We need to embed innovation in various fields and links of industrial development, and promote the integration of the industrial chain and innovation chain; We should highlight the principal role of enterprises in innovation, deepen the reform of the scientific and technological innovation systems and mechanisms, and foster an environment of respecting talents and innovation. Only by transforming technological innovation as a key variable into the greatest advantage of high-quality development can we firmly grasp the trend of development and progress, take the initiative, and create the future.

 

3. Promote the orderly flow of urban resources and production factors to rural areas

 

In the process of industrialization and urbanization in China, a large number of production factors have flowed from rural areas to cities, and cities have achieved rapid development due to the aggregation of resources and production factors. However, the development of rural areas is relatively lagging behind due to the outflow of resources and production factors, leading to problems such as imbalanced urban-rural development and inadequate rural development. To explore a new way of integrated urban and rural development, we need to increase the supply of basic public services and promote the integration of urban and rural basic public services and social security systems. Urban-rural integration is a fundamental direction for future development, and we should take a coordinated and category-based approach in this process. 

 

 

1. The revised "Regulation on the Administration of Commercial Passwords" has been officially announced recently, which clearly promotes the construction of a commercial password evaluation and authentication system and encourages citizens, legal representatives, and other organizations to use commercial passwords in accordance with the law to protect network and information security.

 

2. China has recently issued a guideline for the construction of a national water network throughout the 2021-2035 period, amid efforts to enhance the capability to safeguard water security. The guideline sets multiple long-term goals, including seeing a national water network take shape, creating water networks at the provincial, municipal, and county levels, and fostering a national water security system that meets the requirements of realizing socialist modernization

 

3. China has recently released a guideline issued by 14 state organs, including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to accelerate the construction of "dual-gigabit" internet, which refers to a 5G network and a gigabit optical network. The country will promote the cross-network service for 5G roaming and expand the coverage of gigabit optical network. 

 

 

1. Data from State Administration for Market Regulation showed that in the first quarter of this year, there were 11,000 new foreign-funded companies in China, increasing 7.6% year on year.

 

2. According to the data from the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to April this year, the profit of China's industrial enterprises above designated size totaled RMB 20.33 trillion, down 20.6% year on year.

 

3. According to the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE), from January to April 2023, a total of RMB 80.29 trillion was traded in the Chinese foreign exchange market.

 

4. Data from China Nuclear Energy Association showed that the output value of China's nuclear technology application rose from RMB 300 billion in 2015 (4‰of GDP) to RMB 700 billion by the end of 2022 (5.7‰of GDP), with an annual growth of more than 15%.  

 

5. According to the National Energy Administration, from January to April this year, photovoltaic power generation in China reached 482.8 billion kWh, up 26.8% year on year.

 

6. Data from Chongqing Customs showed that, in the first four months of this year, the export of cars from Chongqing to five Central Asian countries totaled 4,119, with a value of RMB 490 million, 17.8 times and 39.6 times that of the same period last year respectively.

 

7. Data from the Ministry of Finance showed that from January to April this year, the gross revenue of China's state-owned enterprises reached RMB 26.23 trillion, up 7.1% year on year, with total profit of RMB 1.439 trillion, up 15.1% year on year, and tax payable of RMB 2.021 trillion, up 1.1% year on year.

 

8. According to the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, in April China's international trade in goods and services totaled RMB 3.67 trillion, up 7% over the same time last year, with a surplus of RMB 276.1 billion, up 3% year on year.

 

9. Data from China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing showed that from January to April this year, China's logistics totaled RMB 107.6 trillion, up 4.4% year on year, up 0.5 percentage point from the previous quarter.

 

10. The Report on China's Science Fiction Industry 2023 showed that in 2022 the revenue of China's science fiction industry reached RMB 87.75 billion, with a good momentum of development.
