China remains world's largest market for industrial robots for over a decade
BEIJING, Aug. 26 (China Economic Net) - China has maintained its position as the world's largest market for industrial robots for the 11th year in a row, with more than 50% of new installations worldwide occurring in the country over the last three years. This remarkable achievement was highlighted by Xin Guobin, vice minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), during the just-concluded 2024 World Robot Conference (WRC) held in Beijing, China.
Over the years, China has become a major force in robotic technology innovation, application expansion, and industry governance. The country now holds more than 190,000 valid patents in robotics, accounting for about two-thirds of the global total, as per MIIT.
China’s rapid advancements in robotics have positioned it as both the world's largest consumer market and a leading producer in the sector. Marina Bill, President of the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), called on governments, enterprises, and research institutions worldwide to enhance communication and collaboration. She emphasized the importance of integrating cutting-edge technologies with robotics to drive deeper and broader applications in industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, services, and rescue operations.
The 5-day WRC concluded successfully on August 25. The event featured forums where experts from various regions and countries in academia, industry, and research exchanged ideas on key topics related to robotics.
