Pakistani diplomat highlights EV industry potential at Chinese auto expo

TAIZHOU, Sep 26 (China Economic Net) - "Taizhou stands as a pioneering city in China's automobile industry, renowned for its innovative achievements and substantial contributions to the global market. Pakistan has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to reinforcing bilateral relations with China, particularly in the automotive sector, which has undergone remarkable growth and transformation in recent years," highlighted Shehzad Ahmad Khan, Pakistani Consul General in Shanghai at the opening ceremony of the 4-day 2024 Taizhou International Automobile Industry Expo on 19 September.

In underscoring the significance of technological exchange and innovation, Shehzad expressed his conviction that collaborative efforts between Pakistani and Chinese enterprises have the potential to usher in groundbreaking advancements in automotive technology, thereby echoing a sentiment of optimism towards the prospects of knowledge sharing, capacity building and sustainable practices within the industry.
 
The diplomat further emphasized the need for a robust framework for cooperation that encompasses research and development, manufacturing and market access. “We believe that by working together, we can create a future where clean, efficient, and sustainable mobility solutions are accessible to all,” he added.
 
Renowned as the “First City of Private Automobile Manufacturing” in China, Taizhou boasts five national automobile industry bases and more than 6,000 automobile and parts enterprises. The expo, featuring six exhibition halls spanning 50,000 square meters and housing 2,500 booths, provides a comprehensive platform for industry players to display their latest products and technologies.
 
On the sidelines, the Consulate General of Pakistan in Shanghai hosted an EV investment conference. The event gathered key stakeholders from both countries, including industry leaders, officials and potential investors, to explore opportunities for Chinese enterprises in Pakistan’s EV sector, focusing on manufacturing, infrastructure development and supply chain management.
