State Grid Anyang Paves the Way for a Secure Winter Power Supply
On December 13, the 110kV transmission and transformation project in Anyang, Henan was successfully commissioned. This marks the completion of State Grid Anyang Power Supply Company's 2024 main grid milestone construction plan, which includes the addition of 83.63 kilometers of transmission lines and 523,000 kVA of substation capacity. The upgraded regional power grid now operates more flexibly, significantly enhancing the company's power supply capabilities for the upcoming winter.
State Grid Anyang Power Supply Company has set a comprehensive goal for winter electricity supply, which includes ensuring the safety and stability of the grid, the reliability of main equipment, the power supply to key customers, and reliable electricity for residents and essential services. The company has carefully analyzed the energy supply situation, collaborating with the Anyang Development and Reform Commission to establish a daily coal supply reporting mechanism during periods of high demand. It has strengthened coal storage and output management at three centrally controlled power plants and 27 local power plants, maximizing the grid's ability to meet winter demand.
Additionally, the company has completed 258 items in the autumn grid maintenance plan and accelerated the construction of five key projects to enhance the grid's power supply capability. In preparation for potential challenges such as widespread snow, freezing rain, extreme cold, and coal shortages, Anyang Power Supply Company has organized joint anti-accident drills for the 2024 winter peak, focusing on load balancing and emergency response.
To ensure reliable heating for the 1.32 million households involved in the "coal-to-electricity" program, the company has implemented a proactive outreach initiative. Staff members visit residents, providing them with a "Heart-to-Heart Card" and resolving any issues related to winter electricity usage. The company has also launched a widespread campaign to promote scientific electricity usage, energy conservation, and improved power supply services.
In recent weeks, the company completed the installation of DC ice-melting switches on the 220kV Tangyi transmission line at the Tangyin 220kV Yidu Substation. Zhang Shiwei, a specialist from State Grid Anyang Power Supply Company’s Operations and Inspection Department, explained, "With the addition of these ice-melting switches, if the lines are covered with ice, they can be quickly connected to an ice-melting vehicle. This eliminates the need for personnel to climb towers to install jumpers, significantly improving the efficiency and safety of ice-melting operations."
This installation is the first deployment of a DC ice-melting device on Anyang's transmission lines. The company has also expanded its ice-melting capabilities by adding two additional ice-melting devices for distribution networks, alongside one portable unit already in use, which will help improve the efficiency of emergency repairs during harsh weather conditions.
During the winter, the Company will monitor the status of 24 key transformers, shorten inspection and infrared temperature monitoring cycles, and increase the frequency of inspections on 129 key transmission lines, urban "lifeline" networks, and 203 high-risk areas. The company has also established a specialized team to oversee the implementation of winter preparations. A 1,060-member, three-tiered emergency repair team across the city is on standby to respond to unexpected failures, following the principle of "restore power first, then repair" to minimize power outages and disruption.
