Ningbo University delegation visits Pakistan to strengthen Sino-Pak scientific ties

ISLAMABAD, Feb 1 (China Economic Net) - From January 19 to 24, a high-level delegation from Ningbo University, led by Academician Zhao Yufen, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of the Institute of Discovery Technology (IDDT) at the university, visited Pakistan to enhance scientific and technological cooperation between universities and institutions of the two countries.

On January 22, the delegation’s visit coincided with the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence (CCoE) annual meeting in Islamabad. On the occasion, Academician Zhao presented traditional medicine to leaders from the higher education sectors of OIC member countries, aiming to enhance global competitiveness in science, technology, health and higher education through cross-university cooperation.

The Ningbo University delegation also met with officials from Hamdard University, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), and the University of Lahore respectively, to discuss broader cooperation, particularly on the follow-up progress of a project involving seven traditional medicinal plants, including Withania somnifera, Tribulus terrestris, and Moringa oleifera, which were sent to China’s space station. Discussions also covered research and development of traditional medicine, space breeding technology and the training of scientific research talents.
The visit marks a major step in Ningbo University's international scientific and technological cooperation initiative. In recent years, the university has made notable progress in traditional medicine, especially in space-based traditional Chinese medicine research and development, conducting multiple influential space-based experiments domestically and internationally.
