BEIJING, Mar. 28 (China Economic Net) –Have you ever seen a bicycle that can run just by drinking "water"?
"Our H200 hydrogen-powered bicycle could be used in scenarios including but not limited to parks, campuses, tourist attractions, urban sharing. It only needs to be filled with 20g of hydrogen to run dozens of kilometers, only taking one minute to replace the hydrogen bottle," a staff member from Chengdu Hydrogen Collection told an audience from UAE.

On March 26, the three-day China International Hydrogen Congress 2025 launched in Beijing. As an international event covering the entire hydrogen industry chain, its exhibition area reached 40,000 square meters, attracting 447 hydrogen and fuel cell companies from 14 countries and regions, to bring more than 1,000 new technologies, products and application scenarios to the show, including 51 international exhibitors, bringing together industry professionals from more than 70 countries and regions.
"China's hydrogen technology can effectively help change the global energy structure in the future. Thus, China and Europe should work together for win-win results in this field," told a visitor from France, who was attracted by the "hydrogen strawberry" exhibited at the Air Liquide (China) Holding booth next to him. "This is a vivid practice of relevant industrial cooperation between China and France."
Related research showed that irrigating crops with hydrogen-rich water can effectively regulate the community structure and function of rhizosphere microorganisms, with a significant effect on increasing production and improving quality. Hydrogen-rich water refers to water rich in hydrogen prepared by a hydrogen water processor.

"In the first three years, the effect of irrigating strawberries with hydrogen-rich water was not obvious, but starting in the fourth year, researchers found that the strawberries had thick roots and stems after being irrigated with hydrogen-rich water, then the yield was greatly improved. The yield of ordinary strawberries in greenhouses is generally 3,000 kilograms, while the yield of hydrogen-rich water strawberries in greenhouses even reach 3,500 to 4,000 kilograms," a person in charge introduced. More than strawberries, hydrogen-rich water has played a role in the planting process of crops such as tomatoes, blueberries, and rice. The resistance of rice irrigated with hydrogen-rich water to rice blast has been significantly enhanced, with a 17% increase in yield.

The reporter learned that global buyers from Germany, France, Britain, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Russia, Singapore, India are also looking for "prey" at the exhibition, of which European professional buyers have shown great interest in China's brand-new alkaline electrolyzer technology and fuel cell stacks. "We believe that these products are suitable for supporting European green hydrogen projects and fuel cell power generation and energy storage projects, thereby vigorously promoting the in-depth development of our hydrogen energy industry," a buyer from the Netherlands told CEN.
Official data show that in 2024, the global hydrogen market size has reached USD120.6 billion, of which green hydrogen production is less than 1 million tons, accounting for less than 2%. Meanwhile, the global demand for hydrogen was 97 million tons, with hydrogen production from fossil fuels (gray hydrogen) still dominates the market. Although the production of green hydrogen is relatively low, its application potential is huge. In addition, as a major hydrogen producer, China's annual output of hydrogen has exceeded 35 million tons in 2022, showing huge supply potential.
