BEIJING, July. 16 (China Economic Net) - On July 16, the 2025 Global Supply Chain Promotion Report, as well as the global supply chain index matrix consists of the resilience, connectivity, innovation and promotion index, were officially released at a press conference hosted by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

It is reported that the level of global infrastructure connectivity continues to improve, especially the quality and growth of infrastructure construction in the global south, the level of global maritime connectivity has rebounded, and the transportation capacity of railways and aviation pipelines has steadily increased. Traditional infrastructure such as railways, airports, and ports, as well as new infrastructure such as 5G and computing power have shown a clear upward trend, laying a hardware foundation for a good external environment of the global supply chain.
The index matrix released comprehensively evaluated the external environment, connectivity, innovation level, and development resilience of the supply chain.
In order to more intuitively present the changing trend of the global supply chain from 2018 to 2024, the matrix takes 2018 as the base period, and sets the index value of the base period as 1. By now, the values of the four indicators that make up the index matrix have all increased, among which the promotion index increased to 2.71, the connectivity index increased to 1.56, the innovation index increased to 2.16, and the resilience index increased to 1.22 from 2018 to 2024.
Zhao Ping, President of Academy of CCPIT, pointed out that although uncertainty and instability in the world economy are continuing to increase, promoting factors always dominate, and the global supply chain is developing in a more efficient and dynamic direction.
“The promotion, connection and innovation index all reached historical highs in 2024. However, the resilience index fell for two consecutive years starting from 2022. Although it rose in 2024 again, the index has not yet returned to the level of 2021.”
Zhao stressed that the resilience index rose less than the other three indexes and fluctuated more, which means that the inherent resilience of the global supply chain is still relatively fragile. From 2018 to 2024, the average annual compound growth rates of the promotion index, connectivity index and innovation index has reached 18.1%, 7.7% and 13.7% respectively, while the average annual load growth rate of the resilience index will be only 3.4%.
When any of the promotion, connectivity, and innovation indexes declines, the resilience index will decline accordingly, which shows that the inherent quality of the global supply chain is easily affected by various internal and external adverse factors. The security and stability of the global supply chain still face great challenges.
“The resilience index will only rise when the promotionx, connectivity and innovation index all rise at the same time. There is no doubt that improving the resilience of the global supply chain requires joint efforts from all parties.”
