BEIJING, Jul 25 (China Economic Net) - Pakistan's Federal Health Minister, Syed Mustafa Kamal, reaffirmed Pakistan's dedication to inclusive and innovative healthcare development at the Boao Forum for Asia Global Health Forum (GHF) 2025, held in Beijing on July 24–25.
Delivering a keynote speech under the forum's theme, "Shaping a New Future of the Health Industry Driven by Innovations," Minister Kamal called for a global shift from reactive to proactive, people-centered health systems. "Innovation must be the engine of both progress and equity," he said, emphasizing the urgent need for international collaboration to bridge healthcare disparities between developed and developing countries.
Kamal proposed the creation of a Global Health Equity Charter, aimed at guaranteeing fair access to essential technologies and financing—particularly for marginalized and underserved populations. He also advocated for reforms in multilateral health institutions such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and GAVI, urging greater transparency, inclusivity, and responsiveness to the needs of low- and middle-income countries.
Citing Pakistan's advancements in digital health, climate-resilient infrastructure, universal health coverage, and the integration of traditional medicine, Kamal showcased scalable innovations—from mobile health platforms to AI-powered logistics systems—as vital tools in narrowing healthcare access gaps.
He further proposed the establishment of regional hubs focused on biopharmaceutical innovation, geriatric and aging care, and antimicrobial resistance surveillance, encouraging Asia-Pacific nations to co-develop solutions and harmonize regulatory frameworks.
Other speakers at the forum echoed Kamal's message, underscoring the critical importance of regional cooperation, cross-border technological exchange, and health governance that reflects the priorities of the Global South.
