Beijing, Aug.14 (China Economic Net) - On August 13, the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing, in collaboration with the Asia-Africa Trade Promotion Office of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Council, hosted the “Golden Silk Road Mangoes: A True Oriental Treasure” festival, celebrating Pakistan’s rich agricultural heritage and its world-famous mangoes.
Ambassador Khalil Hashmi, addressing the distinguished guests, described mangoes as more than just a fruit: “What we hold in our hands today is the mango - the most precious gift from Pakistan to the world. It carries the warmth of the Indus River Basin, the whisper of ancient orchards, and the promise of friendship with the Chinese people.”
“The golden peel shines with the light of history, the full pulp holds the rains that inspired poets, and the fragrance recalls the caravans of the Silk Road. It is not just food - it is a food ambassador of the Pakistani soul”, he added.
The event attracted diplomats, business leaders, academics, and media representatives, all of whom praised the festival as a vibrant symbol of Pakistan-China friendship and cooperation. Guests were invited to taste premium varieties of Pakistani mangoes and mango-based delicacies-a sweet reminder of the enduring bond between the two nations.
The ceremony was also attended by Saleem Mandviwalla, Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, Pakistan; Long Yuxiang, Chairman of the China International Cultural Exchange Centre; Liu Guangyuan, Vice President of Dong’e Ejiao; and Zhang Qingfeng, Vice President of the China Fruit Marketing Association.
