On August 27, at towers 8 to 21 along the 220 kV Chashan Line in Anyang, Li Wenxuan and Zhu Liwei from the Transmission Operation and Inspection Center of the State Grid Anyang Power Supply Company continued meticulous drone inspections. They precisely recorded defects in insulators, fittings, and other equipment, providing accurate data to support subsequent condition assessments and the formulation of technical plans for autumn maintenance.
With the peak summer electricity demand safely navigated, the State Grid Anyang Power Supply Company is seizing the critical window ahead of the autumn grid overhaul. The company is focusing on fundamental equipment management, identifying hazards in key cross-regional line sections, and inspecting and rectifying electricity safety in schools, aiming to lead this year’s autumn inspection campaign from the front.
Tower number plates serve as crucial markers for transmission equipment, guiding safe operations and fault investigations. Over time, some plates have been eroded by natural conditions, leading to blurred markings. The State Grid Anyang Power Supply Company has reinforced accountability by establishing specialized task forces to rigorously follow the “one base, one inspection; one plate, one verification” standard, accurately completing all processes from removing old plates to installing new ones. In close cooperation with local railway authorities, the company has also launched targeted inspections of transmission lines crossing electrified railways. Using combined drone and manual patrols, inspection teams conduct comprehensive checks on tower foundations, insulators, conductors, and fittings, ensuring both railway and grid safety.
During the summer break, the State Grid Anyang Power Supply Company also took the opportunity to carry out thorough inspections in local schools. Teams conducted comprehensive checks of power lines in classrooms, offices, and canteens, focusing on distribution rooms, transformers, lighting circuits, and outlets. Issues identified on-site were promptly communicated to school officials, with recommendations provided for corrective actions, eliminating potential electrical hazards and ensuring that teachers and students return to a safe and reliable power supply.
To date, the State Grid Anyang Power Supply Company has replaced tower number and warning plates on 128 transmission towers, inspected 37 line sections crossing electrified railways, and issued 643 school electricity inspection reports, identifying 78 safety hazards on the customer side, 54 of which have been rectified. Looking ahead, the company will integrate autumn equipment maintenance with root-cause safety campaigns, consolidating prior achievements, efficiently completing pre-inspection preparations, and strategically planning autumn inspections. By proactively addressing risks at the source, the company aims to strengthen the safety foundation of the grid and ensure stable and secure power operations. (By Shi Haoyan)
