BEIJING, Feb. 7 (China Economic Net)- A Chinese scholar, Prof. Chen Xizhong has emphasized that the Jammu and Kashmir issue should be resolved peacefully in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, stressing dialogue, impartiality, and adherence to international law as the only sustainable way forward.

Prof. Chen Xizhong, Senior Research Fellow at the Charhar Institute, made these remarks while speaking at a seminar hosted by the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day on Thursday. He expressed appreciation for the Embassy's initiative, noting that the event provided a valuable platform for objective exchanges and in-depth discussion on a long-standing international dispute with significant regional and global implications.

Prof. Chen described Kashmir as an unresolved historical international issue that has affected millions of people for more than seven decades. He underscored that discussions on Kashmir must be based on impartiality, respect for historical facts, and strict adherence to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

He reiterated that the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people, as enshrined in international documents, should be fully respected, while also taking into account the legitimate concerns of all parties regarding sovereignty and security.

The event also featured messages from the leadership that were read out to underscore Pakistan's unwavering commitment to the Kashmir cause, including the right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people. A photo exhibition was also arranged on the occasion

The Ambassador of Pakistan to China, Khalil Hashmi, thanked Chinese scholars and friends for their participation and appreciated China's consistent and constructive approach to the Kashmir issue.
