BEIJING, Mar 9 (China Economic Net) - “We are working on establishing a joint laboratory on smart and digital agriculture,” Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi told CEN when asked about Pakistan’s plans to enhance agricultural artificial intelligence (AI) cooperation with China during the ongoing Two Sessions.

Pakistan is looking forward to deploying AI in the agricultural sector, primarily to boost productivity in crops, livestock, fruits and vegetables, and even in improving cold chain logistics, according to the Ambassador.

In January 2026, the Pakistan-China B2B Agriculture Investment Conference resulted in nearly 80 MoUs and agreements worth $4.5 billion between the two countries’ companies, the Ambassador mentioned. “We are working not only on the educational side, but also on the research and development side, as well as the commercialization and business side of agriculture,” he noted.
