China, Pakistan launch twin vocational centers in Lahore

LAHORE, May 20 (China Economic Net) - On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan, two vocational training centers were unveiled and officially put into operation in Lahore on May 20, further deepening skills cooperation between the two countries.

The National Center of Excellence (Luban-Mozi College) for New Energy Vehicle, Pakistan was inaugurated at the Government College of Technology Railway Road, Lahore. The achievement was realized through a collaboration involving Shandong Vocational Transport College, MG JW Automobile Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd, Pakistani Prime Minister's Youth Programme, National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), Pakistan, ITMC Technology and UNI International. The center will serve as a dedicated hub where young Pakistanis will receive hands-on training in electric and hybrid vehicle technologies, enabling them to contribute to the automotive sector through structured short courses.

In a parallel development, the Silk Road Digital Trade Institute, an e-commerce lab, was established at the Government Technical Training Institute, Gulberg, Lahore. The institute is the result of a partnership between Zhejiang Technical Institute of Economics (ZTIE), Zhung Lan Trading Pvt Ltd, Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA), Pakistan, Pakistani Prime Minister's Youth Programme, ITMC Technology and UNI International. It will train Pakistani youth in advanced digital skills through short courses of up to three months, equipping them to earn their livelihoods and participate in the global digital marketplace.

By focusing on emerging sectors such as new energy vehicles and e-commerce, the centers are expected to create employment opportunities for young Pakistanis while supporting the growing presence of Chinese enterprises operating in Pakistan under the Belt and Road Initiative.
