BEIJING, May 22 (China Economic Net) - Pakistan and China on Thursday celebrated the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, reaffirming their commitment to an "All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership" that has remained a cornerstone of regional stability and development for decades.
The anniversary event, titled “75th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Pakistan and China,” is being commemorated through diplomatic engagements, cultural exchanges, and official ceremonies in Islamabad and Beijing. The celebrations aim to highlight the historic friendship and strengthen awareness among younger generations about the significance of bilateral ties established on May 21, 1951.
As part of the celebrations, Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday received a high-level Chinese delegation led by Cai Dafeng, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC), in Islamabad. The delegation is visiting Pakistan to participate in the anniversary events.
Welcoming the Chinese dignitary, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described Pakistan-China relations as a “historic and time-tested partnership” rooted in mutual trust, sovereign equality, and strategic cooperation.
“Today, we mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China,” the Prime Minister said in his official message on Thursday. “The people of Pakistan hold the people of China in the highest esteem and affection.”
“Pakistan remains firmly committed to the high-quality development of CPEC as it enters its next phase,” he said, adding that future cooperation would focus on industrialization, agriculture, information technology, mining, and green development.
Vice Chairman Cai Dafeng reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and expressed support for Pakistan’s efforts toward regional peace and stability. Both sides underscored the importance of the Pakistan-China “ironclad brotherhood” as a vital pillar of peace, development, and prosperity in the region.
