South China's Shenzhen City on Wednesday launched a real-time air monitoring system as part of its campaign to improve air quality.

Automatic monitoring takes data from 74 PM2.5 monitoring sites. All sites have been connected to a unified platform on May 31.

The average density of PM2.5 in Shenzhen was 28 micrograms per cubic meter last year. The target set for 2018 is 26 micrograms.

The real-time PM2.5 data can be monitored on mobile apps from July 1.
