Envoys from the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries expressed satisfaction with Thailand's handling of Rohingya migrants, Thai News Agency reported on Thursday.
Thai Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichachaikul led 17 OIC delegates to observe the Thai authorities' operations in the southern region on Thursday following the recent detentions of hundreds of the Myanmar Muslim ethnic minority in southern Songkhla province this morning where they met 26 Rohingya women and 79 children.
Songkhla Governor Kritsada Boonrach reported that the health conditions of the Rohingya people have improved as they are being provided better care from concerned agencies.
The foreign envoys said they were satisfied with the situation and will determine whether the migrants should be sent back to their country of origin or onward to a third country.
