India has congratulated John Kerry on his becoming the new U.S. Secretary of State, saying it is confident that India-U.S. relations will continue to grown in his term, said local media Friday.
Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid sent a letter Thursday to Kerry, saying over the past four years, "India and the U.S. have developed a broad agenda of cooperation covering a vast array of collaborative pursuits," according to the reports.
"These efforts reaffirm our shared conviction that we have a fundamental stake in each other's success," he said.
"We are confident that with your leadership of the department of state, we will continue to strengthen our partnership, not only for the development and prosperity of our two peoples but also as a pillar of stability amidst the many global and regional challenges confronting us," said the foreign minister.
