Indian government has renewed call for establishment of a national anti-terror agency after the terrorist attack in the southern city of Hyderabad Thursday which killed at least 16 people and injured over 110.

The Congress-led government is likely to push for the National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC) by bringing opposing states on board, said local daily The Times of India Saturday.

India's political circles was unanimous on strict action against terrorism after the Hyderabad attack, so the government thinks it is the right time to push for establishment of the agency, said the report.

Home minister Sushilkumar Shinde and external affairs minister Salman Khurshid made a pitch for NCTC on Friday.

Indian governmnt shelved the idea after some Indian states opposed the establishment of such an agency, which they said could infringe on personal liberty of Indians with spying activities by the agency and interfere with police's judicial work.
