Moscow has so far no plans to evacuate its embassy staff from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), a Russian diplomat said Monday.

"No abrupt movements such as an evacuation or something of the kind are planned for the near future," Denis Samsonov, press officer of the Russian embassy in Pyongyang, told the Interfax news agency.

The official said the situation in Pyongyang "remains calm" and the embassy was operating in its regular mode. "Everything is calm and stable in Pyongyang ... All government institutions are operating as usual," he said.

The DPRK Foreign Ministry informed on Friday a number of foreign embassies and representatives of international organizations that their safety would not be guaranteed in the event of a conflict.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Moscow intended to clarify details before making a decision regarding the DPRK's offer to evacuate Russia's diplomatic mission.
