South Korea rejected a joint event proposal by the DPRK to commemorate landmark declaration.

South Korea asked DPRK to respond to proposal for holding a working-level meeting on Kaesong issue.

South Korea expressed regret about statements which attack South Korean President.

South Korea Monday rejected a joint event proposal by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to commemorate landmark declaration.

South Korea's Unification Ministry said in a statement that if the DPRK really wants to improve the inter-korean relationship it should start a dialogue with South Korean government to build trust as soon as possible instead of getting in touch with private organization.

The remarks came after the DPRK sent a fax last Wednesday to propose joint anniversary activities with South Korea to commemorate the 13th anniversary of the landmark joint declaration.

"North Korea continuously refused our government talk offers on Kaesong issue on one hand, but proposed a joint event offer with private organization on the other," the spokesman of Unification Ministry criticized DPRK's double face for "sowing discord between South Korean government and the public."

He asked DPRK to restore hotlines which have been cut and respond to the proposal for holding a working-level meeting on Kaesong issue as soon as possible.

The official also expressed regret about its statements which attack South Korean President Park Geun-hye and demanded DPRK stop speaking in this way. The DPRK Sunday harshly criticized South Korean President Park Geun-hye, calling her a "pupper president," according to Yonhap News Agency.
