Cold snap kills one in France

A man was found dead on Tuesday as a wave of a cold snap and heavy snowfall hit France's northern region, according to local report.

A 58-year-old homeless man was believed to have died of freezing temperatures in Saint-Brieuc in northwestern France, the news channel BFMTV said.

The unprecedented thick snow and a cold snap at few weeks from the spring season, were causing major disruptions on air, rail and road network. The ice also damaged eletricity supply in northern and northwestern France on Tuesday.

According to Meteo France, the country's weather agency, two departments were put under red alert and 27 others including Paris and suburbs under orange alert on predicted heavy snowfall till Wedenesday morning.
