The support rate for Socialist President Francois Hollande and Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault saw a further fall in March to below 30 percent, a survey released by polling institution TNS Sofres showed Thursday.
According to the latest poll, only about 27 percent of the French now support President Hollande. Never had a French president fallen so low in the polls after only 10 months in the office.
In the mean time, Prime Minister Ayrault got a support rate of 25 percent, also three points lower than a previous poll.
The face-to-face survey was conducted from March 27 to 30 among 1,000 French respondents.
According to the TNS Sofres, the results of the survey confirms that majority of French nationals distrust the Socialist president and his government.
The recent confession of ex-budget minister Jerome Cahuzac who admitted to having a foreign bank account a few days after the survey was conducted is expected to further tarnish the image of Hollande and his government.
