British Foreign Office said on Friday it is still discussing how to respond to the notice sent by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) earlier about considering the evacuation of foreign embassies.

"We are consulting international partners about these developments. No decisions have been taken, and we have no immediate plans to withdraw our embassy," a British Foreign Office spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said the DPRK Foreign Ministry earlier on Friday "informed a number of embassies of foreign countries in Pyongyang, including the British embassy, and representatives of international organizations that they would be unable to guarantee the safety of embassies and international organizations present in the country in the event of conflict."

"They invited the embassies and organizations present at the meeting to inform them by April 10 what assistance they would require from the DPRK should they wish to be evacuated from DPRK or to be relocated elsewhere," the spokesperson added.

Tensions have been running high in the Korean Peninsula since DPRK conducted its third nuclear test on Feb. 12 in protest against the joint military drills between Seoul and Washington.

The DPRK declared last weekend that it had entered "a state of war" against the Republic of Korea. It has also threatened to launch a preemptive nuclear strike for self-defense.
