Macedonian police intercepted 25 illegal migrants from Pakistan Tuesday morning near the archaeological site of Stobi, Macedonian Interior Ministry informed.

According to the police officers, the migrants were found inside a vehicle at the old road of Negotino-Gradsko. The driver immediately ran away and the search for him is underway, reported the police.

On May 16, Macedonian Parliament decided to extend the state of emergency along the southern and northern borders until Dec. 31 to prevent a possible influx of migrants.

Macedonia declared a "state of emergency" in its two border regions in mid-2015 due to the tension caused by the rising number of refugees.
