Iran's armed forces to receive 800 indigenous tanks
The Iranian army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps will receive 800 domestically-built tanks, including Karrar, state TV reported Wednesday.
Iran manufactures 50 to 60 tanks every year as demanded by the army and the IRGC, Deputy Defense Minister Reza Mozaffari-Nia was quoted as saying.
Iran unveiled Karrar (Striker), its most advanced indigenous tank of amphibious mobility, in March 2017.
According to Press TV, the firepower, precision and mobility of Karrar are comparable with the state of the art in the world.
Iran has repeatedly said its military hardware development is for deterrent purposes and does not pose any threat to other countries.
