Cyprus marked the highest drop in unemployment rate among EU countries, from 11 percent a year ago to 8.2 percent in June, a Eurostat statement said on Tuesday.
It was the lowest rate of unemployment in Cyprus since September 2011.
This rate of unemployment corresponds to 35,000 people out of work in June, relative to 36,000 in May and 47,000 in June 2017.
The average unemployment rate in the EU was 6.9 percent while that in the Euro area was 8.3 percent last month, Eurostat said.
Unemployment in Cyprus was just below the average unemployment in the Euro area, which was 8.3 percent, but above that of the 6.9 percent average of EU as a whole.
Cyprus's unemployment, which started going up sharply since 2011, peaked at just over 16 percent after the island's 10-billion-euro bailout in March, 2013.
