Argentina will close the year with a 30-percent inflation, five points higher than last year, President Mauricio Macri said on Tuesday.

"Unfortunately, we will end the year with inflation at around 30 percent, as a result of this storm," Macri said, referring to economic problems that have plagued the country in recent months, including a currency devaluation.

Prices should begin to stabilize starting in August, Macri told local media in the west-central province of Cordoba, adding that a rise in gasoline prices was to be blamed for the inflationary pressure.

"It is going to keep going down. Next year it is going to go down and in two or three years, we are going to have single-digit inflation," said Macri.

Macri's government recently secured a 50-billion-U.S.-dollar loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The loan agreement calls for an inflation target of 17 percent in 2019, 13 percent in 2020, 9 percent in 2021 and 5 percent by 2022.
