Conflict in eastern Ukraine causes 161 casualties since start of year: OSCE
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) said on Friday the conflict in eastern Ukraine caused 161 civilian casualties between January and July this year.
Alexander Hug, deputy chief monitor of the OSCE special monitoring mission to Ukraine, told reporters that 29 non-combatants were killed and 132 others were injured during the seven months.
The United Nations estimated that over 3,000 civilians lost their lives in the more than four years of military confrontation between government troops and separatist militants in eastern Ukraine, and about 9,000 others were injured.
In 2017, the OSCE recorded 478 civilian casualties in eastern Ukraine.
