Kyrgyzstan elects new ombudsman
The Kyrgyz parliament on Wednesday elected Tokon Mamytov, former vice prime minister for security issues, as the country's new ombudsman.
At a ballot, 79 of the total 120 deputies voted for Mamytov.
Five candidates were nominated for the post of ombudsman, while one of them withdrew.
Former ombudsman Kubat Otorbaev voluntarily resigned in June.
