Ukrainian opposition politician Yulia Tymoshenko leads the list of the potential candidates for Ukrainian presidency six months before the scheduled elections, a public opinion poll showed on Wednesday.

According to the survey conducted by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology, Tymoshenko, the leader of the Fatherland party, would receive 10.6 percent of voter support if the elections take place in the near future.

According to the poll, 6.5 percent of respondents would vote for the incumbent Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and the same number of voters would support actor Volodymyr Zelensky.

Anatoly Hrytsenko, the leader of the Civil Position party, and famous rock musician Svyatoslav Vakarchuk have 6 percent and 4.6 percent of voter support respectively.

The other candidates have lower percentage of support among those surveyed.

The survey was carried out from Sept. 8 to 23 among 2,026 adults living in 110 cities and villages across Ukraine.

The presidential election in Ukraine is scheduled for March 31, 2019. To win the race in the first round, the candidate should earn more than 50 percent of the votes.
