A 43-year-old Swedish man was charged with 25 cases of unlawful threats and death threats after sending several white powder letters to politicians, ministers and celebrities, the Swedish Television SVT reported on Friday.

The man was convicted to seven years in prison on 20 cases of unlawful threats. In total, he sent 26 letters and death threats for example to Sweden's Prime Minister Stefan Lofven, the Green Party's spokesperson Isabell Lovin and Minister of Finance Magdalena Andersson.

In addition, the man was convicted of attempted murder. It relates to a letter bomb that he sent to a company in Britain. The letter bomb did not detonate because it was not opened in the intended way, however, it could have caused serious injury or death. The man is believed to have manufactured the bomb letter himself although the court was not able to determine if it was manufactured in his home town or elsewhere in Sweden.

According to a legal psychiatric, he did not have any serious mental disorder when he committed the deeds. The man has denied all involvement in the letter bomb.
