Brunei was ranked the 59th among 193 countries in the United Nations E-Government Survey 2018, up by 24 spots from two years ago.

The sultanate came in 83rd in the survey two years ago with a score of 0.529. This year, the country's score jumped to 0.6923, local daily the Borneo Bulletin quoted the survey as saying on Monday.

Within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Brunei was ranked the fifth after Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Thailand.

Denmark, Australia and South Korea are the leading countries in e-government development.

Biennially, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) provides an overview of the e-government development in UN member states.
