Syria's air defenses intercept Israeli missiles over capital Damascus
The Syrian air defenses intercepted a number of missiles fired from inside Lebanese airspace Tuesday evening in an suspected Israeli airstrike, state TV reported.
The Israeli missile attack on the countryside of Damascus was ongoing as Syrian air defenses were still responding, it reported.
In earlier reports, the state TV said Syrian air defenses were triggered Tuesday evening by what appeared to be a missile attack near the capital Damascus.
A series of explosions were heard in the capital and residents saw the flaring of air-defense missiles chasing unknown targets in the sky.
Meanwhile, Lebanese media reports said Israeli warplanes infiltrated the Lebanese airspace on Tuesday evening at the time of the attack against Syria.
