South Korean President Moon Jae-in's approval rating fell this week to 43.8 percent, the lowest since his inauguration in May last year, a weekly poll showed Thursday.

According to the Realmeter survey, support for Moon declined 3.3 percentage points over the week to 43.8 percent this week. It marked the lowest since Moon took office about one and a half years ago.

The result was based on a poll of 1,003 voters conducted on Monday and Wednesday. It had 3.1 percentage points in the margin of error with a 95 percent confidence level.

The negative assessment on Moon's management of state affairs advanced to 51.6 percent, surpassing the positive assessment for the first time.

Moon's support scores kept falling for the past months amid the lackluster employment and worry about economic growth.

Consumer sentiment rebounded this month as minimum wage would be hiked by a double-digit next year for the second straight year.

Support for the ruling Democratic Party shed 1.7 percentage points over the week to 36.3 percent this week.

It was followed by the main conservative opposition Liberty Korea Party, of which approval rating rose 0.2 percentage points to 25.6 percent.

The minor progressive Justice Party and the minor conservative Bareun Future Party won 8.6 percent and 8.2 percent respectively in approval scores. The center-left Party for Democracy and Peace earned 2.3 percent of support.
