A knife-wielding Palestinian was shot and killed by Israeli troops on Monday night after attempting to stab soldiers in a West Bank bus stop, the military said.
The incident took place at a crossroad east of Nablus in the northern West Bank.
The military issued a statement saying the man approached soldiers with a knife. After they called him to stop but he did not, the troops shot and killed him, the army said.
No Israeli injuries were reported.
"The details are being looked into. Additional forces are on their way to the scene," the statement read.
The recent incident is part of an ongoing surge of violence in the West Bank, which Israel says is stoked by the Palestinian National Authority and the Palestinians say is the result of 52 years of Israeli occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
