French President Emmanuel Macron saw his approval ratings improve in April as his handling of Notre Dame Cathedral's fire had gave him impetus, according to a survey revealed on Friday.

Figures from pollster BVA showed that 32 percent of respondents gave good opinions about the action of the 41-year-old top official, up by 3 percentage points from a previous poll.

The centrist head of state had maintained the support of his multiform political camp "The Republic on the Move," while more supporters from the right and left wings backed his action over the fire. Their appreciation improved by 9 percentage points and 5 percentage points respectively.

The poll was conducted on Wednesday and Thursday, with 1,002 people were questioned online.
